WINNEBAGO COUNTY, Ill. (WIFR) -- One of three people charged for drug-induced deaths last year in Winnebago County will spend 15 years in prison.
Karen Hernandez, 54, was sentenced on two counts of drug-induced homicide on Wednesday.
Hernandez plead guilty to charges from two drug overdoses, which contributed to the deaths of Justine Wentz on March 16, 2018 and Brock Palchik on March 19, 2018.
Damarrio Mitchell, 30, and Miranda Powell, 29, were also charged in the investigation. Both were separately wanted in a July 3, 2018 homicide investigation related to drug overdoses.
Hernandez will also have three years of mandatory supervised release after her release.
