Winner chosen for Rockford mayor's holiday card contest

A seventh grade student from St. Rita’s will have his artwork featured on the next holiday card for Rockford mayor Tom McNamara.

Roman Gorsline was selected as the winner of McNamara's holiday card contest.

Gorsline's design featured a Rockford-symbolic Christmas tree, including ornaments of Rockford IceHogs mascot Hammy, the Coronado, a Hard Rock casino guitar and more.

It also features Rockford native and 2019 NBA champion Fred VanVleet flying above the tree.

Judges received more than 130 works of art for the contest, which allowed elementary and middle school students in the Rockford area to submit their designs.
