Winnebago Police Chief Stockburger resigns

The village of Winnebago's top cop, Chief Todd Stockbburger announces his resignation from the department.

Stockburger released a statement Tuesday saying he's hanging up his badge after spending more than 16 years with the Winnebago Police Department. His last day with the village will be Friday. But he's not hanging up his hat for good. Starting Monday, he takes over as the 9-1-1 director for the city of Rockford. In the statement, Stockburger says he's thankful for the opportunity to serve as chief.
