WINNEBAGO COUNTY, Ill. (WIFR) -- In recognition of National HIV Testing Day, the Winnebago County Health Department will offer free testing on Thursday.

For fast, free and confidential testing, those interested can visit the Winnebago County Health Department in the 500 block of North Court Street between 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
"No longer is HIV a death sentence," says Todd Kisner from the Winnebago County Health Department. "Knowing your status, getting the treatment early, can help you live a long life."
Roughly 1.1 million people in the U.S. are living with HIV, according to HIV.gov. About 15 percent are unaware that they are infected.
