Winnebago County hosts 'Police Explorer' teen program fourth straight year

WINNEBAGO COUNTY, Ill. (WIFR) -- Teens interested in law enforcement will once again have a chance to work with local officers and learn more about law enforcement.

The Winnebago County Sheriff's Office kicks off its fourth annual 'Police Explorer' program for teens interested in becoming an officer or learning more about police work.

The program is designed to offer hands-on skills for teens and young adults ages 14-20. The open house for the program is set for Dec. 12 from 6-7 p.m. while the first meeting begins Jan. 9.

If you would like to join the program, you will need to fill out an application and pay $33 for the yearly program.
