UPDATE: Coroner identifies Loves Park man killed in 3-car accident

UPDATE: ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - The Winnebago County Coroner releases the name of a Loves Park man killed in a three-car crash Tuesday night outside Nicholas Conservatory.

Nikolas Williams, 31, died of blunt trauma of the head and chest, according to a report sent Wednesday afternoon to news media.

A Dodge vehicle with one passenger and a minivan carrying a mother and two children were traveling south on North Second Street just before 5 p.m. Tuesday when a Pontiac, driven by Williams, turned left onto Ethel Avenue. Williams' vehicle was T-boned by the Dodge. The minivan also was involved in the accident.

Rockford police continue to investigate.

UPDATE: ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - A man is killed in a three-car crash right outside Nicholas Conservatory.

Investigators say a minivan with a mother and two kids inside and a Dodge with one passenger, were traveling southbound on North Second when a Pontiac turned left on to Ethel Avenue causing the Dodge to T-bone it. The minivan was caught in the accident.

The man, and only occupant, in the Pontiac was killed in the collision. The family in the minivan were treated for minor injuries, while the man in the Dodge was uninjured.

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - A fatal three-car accident has traffic being diverted at one of Rockford's busiest interchanges.

At this time the Winnebago County Coroner's Office is responding to a fatal accident at North Second Street and Ethel Avenue.

The Rockford Fire Department says southbound traffic on North Second Street is being diverted on to Auburn Street at the Auburn/Spring Creek interchange. They say people should avoid the area as traffic is backing up.
