Winnebago County Board votes in favor of a 911 contribution plan

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- It's a rarity with the Winnebago County Board these days, a unanimous vote.

But, that's what happened tonight, every board member voted in favor of a 911 contribution plan. It calls for municipalities throughout Winnebago County, to chip in money with the county for expenses associated with 911 service. The amount each municipality owes will be based on its percentage of 911 usage using 2015 numbers. Other municipality boards will still have to pass the plan for it to take effect.

David Kurlinkus, the Deputy States Attorney talks about the plan, "It's like any other compromise. If everybody walks away happy it's very unusual. But if everyone thinks, 'why I got something but I had to give up something' then it's a good agreement and I think it was a good agreement."
