Warming Centers open in the stateline

BOONE AND WINNEBAGO COUNTIES, Ill. (WIFR) - The city of Rockford Human Services Department says several facilities will be open from now until April in Winnebago and Boone counties.

The Community Action Agency says you may be eligible for assistance this winter if your utilities have been shut off, you have a non-working furnace, you are a homeowner interested in weatherization improvements to make your home energy and cost efficient or you are homeless.

Here are the warming center locations in Winnebago County:

-The Carpenter’s Place at 1149 Railroad Ave. in Rockford open 8:15 a.m. –3:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.

-Rockford Rescue Mission at 715 W. State St. in Rockford

Women’s Crisis Center, women and children only, open 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. all week.

Men’s Crisis Center open 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. all week.

-Oak Street Health at 301 E. State St. in Rockford open 8:00 a.m. –5:00 p.m. Monday–Friday.

-Pecatonica Village Hall at 405 Main St. in Pecatonica open 8:30 a.m. –4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.

-Village of Machesney Park at 300 Roosevelt Rd. in Machesney Park open 8:00 a.m. –4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday

Here are the warming center locations in Boone County:

-Salvation Army at 422 S. Main St. in Belvidere open Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m.–11:45 a.m. and 1:00-4:00 p.m.

Belvidere Public Safety Building at 615 N. Main St. in Belvidere open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Additional sites:

-Illinois Dept. of Human Services Family Community Resource Center at 171 Executive Parkway in Rockford open 8:00 a.m. -5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday (except State and Federal holidays)

-Belvidere Oasis on I-90 in Belvidere is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
