ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – A flower at the Nicholas Conservatory is getting some attention for its smell, but not in a good way.
It’s called a Voodoo Lily and it’s just starting to bloom. The flower is notorious for producing a strong, offensive odor, similar to rotting meat.
Normally once the flower opens the smell lasts for about a week. The smell attracts the flies that pollinate the flowers.
