Vacant home damaged in early morning fire in Rockford

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- The Rockford Fire Department responded to an early morning house fire on Friday at a vacant home in the 300 block of South Hinkley Avenue.

Investigators say it happened a little before 4:00 Friday morning and by the time the Fire Department got to the scene, the fire had spread to the second floor. Firefighters immediately started protecting the neighboring homes and put the fire out.

No one was injured and the damages are estimated to be about $35,000.
