ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- The new year means new prices for the U.S. Postal Service.

USPS says it plans to increase most mailing services by 2.5 percent. Priority Mail rates will increase from $0.65 to $1.05 depending on the size of the items shipped.

Forever Stamp prices will also increase by five cents to $0.55, while metered letters will increase by three cents to $0.50.

While theses changes were approved by the Postal Regulatory Commission in November, they will not take effect until January 27.
