ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- With help from a generous grant, students from the University of Illinois College of Pharmacy at Rockford had the opportunity to step into the day in the life of a pharmacist.

A $38,000 grant from the Community Foundation of northern Illinois gave promising students to see first-hand what a career in pharmacy looks like.

The Summer Pharmacy Institute offers hands-on immersive experience in all aspects of pharmacy including community, hospital, ambulatory care, and research.

"There's a god percentage [of students] more interested in healthcare, and they're trying to feel out is pharmacy right for them," says Dr. Kevin Rynn with UIC College of Pharmacy. "That's why this camp does attract them to the career of pharmacy and our pharmacy program here."
