Two women dead after Janesville shooting

JANESVILLE, Wis. (WMTV) -- The Janesville Police Department is investigating a double homicide after two women were found shot early Monday morning.

Officers found them around 3:20 a.m. near Midvale Drive and Deerfield Drive, police said. Both were taken to Mercy Hospital where they later died.

Neither woman's name is being released at this time, pending notification of their family.

Neighbors in the area expressed concern.

"Around 3 a.m., we had gotten a knock on the door from police officers asking if we had heard any screaming or gunshots," a neighbor, Viviaan Ward recounted. "We told them no and then they said there was a double homicide in front of our house and that’s really scary to hear about.””
