Two teens arrested for Rockford car burglary

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Two Rockford teens were arrested for breaking into a car Wednesday morning and stealing several items.

The two juveniles, a 17-year-old female and a 16-year-old boy, were charged with burglary to a motor vehicle.

Police reported to the 1300 block of Elm Street around 1:30 a.m. Officers says two suspects were pulling on door handles and entered one that was unlocked.

Officers chased the two suspects after taking several items out of the car. After briefly escaping, they were found in the 100 block of Hinkley Avenue.

The female is being held in the Juvenile Detention Center, while the male was released to his parents. They are considered innocent unless proven guilty by the court of law.
