Coroner releases name of man killed on Newburg Road

Winnebago County Coroner Bill Hintz releases the name of the Rockford man shot and killed on Newburg Rd.

Jarvis Wilder, 28, died at a Rockford hospital after being shot outside a home Wednesday night. A 20-year-old woman was also shot, but is expected to survive.

The coroner says Wilder died from a gunshot wound. At this time, no suspect information has been released.

The Winnebago County Coroner confirms the preliminary cause of death for the shooting victim to be a gunshot wound.

The victim's name will be released once the coroner has notified his family.

The death is under investigation by the Rockford Police Department.

Rockford Police say a man has died after being shot last night on the city's east side.

The 28-year-old man, who has not been identified, was taken to the hospital in critical condition and later died from his injuries. A 20-year-old woman was also taken to the hospital with serious injuries but she is expected to survive. Her name has not yet been released.

Winnebago County Coroner Bill Hintz says an autopsy is pending for the man.

Rockford police say the two were standing outside a home in the 4500 block of Newburg Rd. around 6:15 p.m. when both were shot. Police have not yet released details about a possible suspect.

A 28-year-old man is in critical condition and a 20-year-old woman is seriously injured following a shooting in the 4500 block of Newburg Road on Wednesday night.

Rockford Police says they responded to reports of the double shooting at around 6:15 p.m. Upon arriving, officers learned the man and woman were taken to an area hospital.

Police say the man is said to have suffered critical, life threatening injuries. The woman is said to have suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.

We are told the shooting is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.
