UPDATE: ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Police have arrested the wanted suspect linked to a violent crime spree in Rockford.

20-year-old Latham Swift turned himself in late Thursday.

He's charged with two counts of armed robbery.

Swift's court appearance is 1:30 p.m. Friday.

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Rockford police say they've linked a group to the string of recent armed robberies on the city's east side.

They arrested two 17-year-old juvenile males from Rockford Wednesday and charged them with armed robbery. Police recovered a stolen handgun in the investigation.

Police took into custody a 16-year-old Rockford male for armed robbery, and another 17-year-old for armed robbery, aggravated unlawful use of weapons, possession of a stolen firearm and stolen property.

20-year-old Latham Swift is wanted for armed robbery. His bond is set at $25,000.

Rockford Police Chief Dan O'Shea says it's discouraging to see juveniles involved in such serious violent crime.

Detectives say they're looking into the possibility that this same group of subjects is connected to four additional armed robberies and three reckless discharge incidents that have happened in the
past month.

All people involved are considered innocent until proven guilty.
