Two arrested after cocaine, loaded gun recovered in Boone County traffic stop

BOONE COUNTY, Ill. (WIFR) -- An Aurora man and a Chicago woman were arrested in a Boone County traffic stop Friday after officers found cocaine and a loaded handgun.

Nathan Ramirez, 23, and Brooklyn Colacino, 26, were charged from the traffic stop on I-90 near the Belvidere Oasis.

Deputies recovered 100 grams of cocaine, a loaded semi-automatic handgun and more than $3,000 in cash. A K-9 alerted deputies to the drugs.

Ramirez was charged with possession and intent to deliver a controlled substance - cocaine (100-400 grams), unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful use of a stolen firearm. He is being held at the Winnebago County Jail on a $100,000 (10%) bond.

Colacino was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance - cocaine. She was released from jail on a $10,000 (10%) bond.

The Boone County Sheriff's Office says additional charges are possible. Ramirez and Colacino are considered innocent unless proven guilty by the court of law.
