Two Rockford men are accused of beating another man in a fight in November and causing injuries that led to his death.

Joseph Benjamin, 30, and Clarence Benjamin, 25, are accused for the death of Albert Perez, a 28-year-old Rockford resident.

Authorities say two victims, including Perez, were taken to the hospital after they were beaten in the area. The other victim was treated and released.

Perez died as a result of his injuries a few days later on Nov. 27, according to the Winnebago County Coroner's Office.

Joseph Benjamin was charged with aggravated battery while using a deadly weapon, aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, and mob action.

Clarence Benjamin is charged with two counts of aggravated battery while using a deadly weapon, aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, and mob action.

Authorities continue to investigate the crimes. Both suspects are considered innocent unless proven guilty by the court of law.
