21 northern Illinois fire departments to receive grants

More than 20 northern Illinois fire departments will receive a grant as part of Illinois American Water’s firefighter grant program.
Illinois American Water will award more than $77,000 in grants to 78 fire departments across the state.
The grants were announced during National Fire Prevention Week from Oct. 7-13.
“We know resources for our local heroes often runs short,” said Bruce Hauk, Illinois American Water President. "Through this grant program, we are able to partner on another level and further support our local heroes.”
The grants will provide personal protective gear, communications equipment and additional resources for firefighters.
The northern Illinois fire departments receiving grants include:
Allen Township Fire Protection District, Des Plaines Fire Department, Elmhurst Fire Department, Elgin Fire Department, Grand Ridge Volunteer Fire Department, Homer Township Fire Protection District, Lemont Fire Protection District, Leonore Volunteer Fire Department, Lisle‐Woodridge Fire District, Long Point Community Volunteer Fire Protection District, Mount Prospect Fire Department, Northwest Homer Fire Protection District, Orland Fire Protection District, Oswego Fire Protection District, Plainfield Fire Protection District, Prospect Heights Fire Protection District, Reading Volunteer Fire Department, South Beloit Fire & Rescue, Sterling Fire Department Streator Fire Department and Warrenville Fire Protection District
