ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- If you're a fan of cheese curds, today is the day for you!
Tuesday marks National Cheese Curd Day.
Culver's created the first National Cheese Curd Day on Oct. 15, 2015 to celebrate the dairyland delicacy.
According to Wisconsin Cheese Talkrather than growing up into an aged block of cheese, curds are separated from the whey during the cheesemaking process, leaving behind a solid curd of cheese that has a milky flavor.
The “squeak” is also a sign of curd freshness. Cheese curds are most fresh within two days of making them.
