BELOIT, Wis. (WIFR) – An invasive beetle continues to plague parts of the Midwest, including in the Stateline.

The City of Beloit is blaming the Emerald Ash Borer for killing dozens of trees there.

Crews will be removing about fifty trees in Riverside Park near the City’s east side.

Emerald Ash Borer is a beetle that kills ash trees by eating the trees’ tissue underneath the bark.

Experts say 50 million ash trees are dead or dying in the Midwest because of the insect.
