Rockford, Ill (WIFR) -- A very furry member of the North Park Fire Protection District is headed back to school to learn how to help comfort first responders.
Truckie is a one year old service dog in training and he is working towards his certification to be able to help fire fighters across Boone and Winnebago County. The Greg Lindmark Foundation is sponsoring the schooling for Truckie, and once he finishes his certification, his owner Becca plans to take him to departments around the region to help relieve the stress first responder’s encounter on the job.
"The stress that first responders, fire fighters encounter is a lot more in depth than maybe they realize,” said Truckie’s owner Becca Sprague.
“So Truckie is that door to help share that be and that extra voice for first responders in general. Just to help give them a more positive light, and help people understand what they do through."
