If your daily commute leads you through the intersection of Sandy Hollow Road and Ninth Street in Rockford, you may notice something missing.
Traffic lights were removed from the intersection.
In June, the city conducted a study to determine if the stop lights were needed. After monitoring traffic flow, accidents and sifting through public comments, the city says the lights were not needed.
The traffic lights will be replaced by stop signs.
