ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- We all know tomorrow is Valentine ’s Day and it's meant to be spent with a loved one. But did you know today is for the girls? It's Galentine’s Day, a day to celebrate friendship!
Galentine’s Day is a day where girls will hang out with their friends for a girl's night before the main event tomorrow. Mayo Clinic released a study recently that found good friendships are really good for our health. It says strong relationships for both women and men reduce our risk for health problems like depression, high blood pressure, and an unhealthy BMI. Doctors say the more social we are, we're more likely to live longer too!
Dr. Harneet from SwedishAmerican tells us about her Galentine’s Day, “They're there to support us during tough times, they encourage us to do well and also encourage us to have better lifestyles, which affect our health. So they can encourage us to work out more, eat healthier, so it's a band of friends that are there for you all the time.”
