ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- The Discovery Center Museum welcomed Thomas the Tank Engine and friends today.
Kids had the chance to interact with Thomas characters and solve problems by pretending to fill different roles, like an engineer or a conductor.
Most of the activities involved math or physics but disguised as different fun activities so kids don't notice. Museum educators say there's no end to the things kids could do at the exhibit.
"Thomas is so popular because he shows you how to do things and how to work together. That's what you get to do here - you get to do stuff yourself and work together. They're loading the trains, they're putting in the luggage, they're selling the tickets. They're finding out how to make things go down the hill without falling off the rails," said Director of Education Corinne Sosso.
Thomas will be at the museum until May 12. The museum is open every day from 10 until 5 p.m.
