ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- "The Sound of Music" is coming to the Coronado Performing Arts Center Tuesday night with a local touch.

The experience comes full-circle for director Matt Lenz, who has the opportunity to put on the show in his hometown.

Lenz graduated from Keith School before starting his career in New York City. In 2015, he helped organize the national tour of one of the most beloved shows in "The Sound of Music."

Lenz says its a family-friendly show that's still relevent in today's society. He tries to come home to rockford as much as he can, and being at the Coronado is the cherry on top of this tour.

"It's particularly special of course to have a show playing at the Coronado Theater, which is the theater where I saw national tours when I was a kid," Lenz said. "It was a part of the reason I got really interested in pursing a career in theater."
