ROCKFORD, Ill (WIFR)--- The Oregon Trail: In Real Life event is bringing the Oregon Trail video game to real life. Both kids and adults get the chance to immerse themselves in history all while having fun.
The event has two parts. During the day, it's geared toward kids as they get the chance to explore different stations set up to teach them about how to treat a snake bite to how to fix a wagon wheel.
"Giving kids a way to really interact with history in a fun and different unique way other than just reading text books," says special events coordinator, Alyssa McGhghy.
Then at night, the event is catered to adults. The museum has partnered up with Prairie Street Brewing Company to bring an intense competition. 23 teams have registered for the chance to fight for the ultimate prize.
This is the first time the museum has this event, but organizers say it will be returning next year.
