LOVES PARK, Ill. (WIFR) -- A teen struck and killed by two cars early Sunday morning in Loves Park has been identified.
The victim is Brant Griebel, a 17-year-old from Rockford, according to the Winnebago County Coroner's Office.
An autopsy determined Griebel died from blunt force trauma to the head. Authorities say he couldn't be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash happened around 1 a.m. in the 1800 block of East Riverside Boulevard in Loves Park.
Loves Park police say a pedestrian, identified as Griebel, was struck by two cars, both which left the scene. Both cars were traveling westbound on East Riverside Boulevard at the time of the crash.
The first car was described as a dark color, older model passenger car. Police say the vehicle likely has damage to the front end, hood and windshield.
Police say the second car and the suspected driver have been found. Loves Park police are investigating the death.
