ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- A 15-year-old girl is leading the charge to make sure local kids have a safe place to sleep.
Serenity Brockman says she wanted to give back to kids her own age, collecting money to donate sleeping bags to Rock House Kids.
The non-profit says many of the kids don't have a comfortable place to sleep, but Serenity says she hopes the more than 100 sleeping bags donated will help give the kids some security at home.
"I had it in my heart to give them a sense of security", says Brockman.
Brockman says she got donations from businesses like Walmart, along with area 4H groups and local families.
