ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- A Rockford teen was charged for breaking in to Wesley Willows, a local retirement village, twice over the past weekend.
Bennett Stewart, 18, was arrested for a series of home invasions on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1.
The first home invasion happened around 4 p.m. Saturday in the 2700 block of Embury Drive in the retirement village.
Police say Stewart allegedly entered the residence and demanded money from an 86-year-old woman. The victim lost an undisclosed amount of money, but wasn't hurt.
Then, around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, Stewart reportedly entered a residence in the 4200 block of Ahlstrand Drive.
An 82-year-old man was sleeping inside, but Stewart allegedly demanded money when he woke up. Police say the victim was hit in the face with a watch, but refused medical treatment.Tthe suspect left-empty handed.
Stewart was charged with aggravated battery to a citizen, residential burglary, home invasion, robbery and attempted robbery.
Stewart is being held at the Winnebago County Jail on a $75,000 bond. He is considered innocent unless proven guilty by the court of law.
