FREEPORT, Ill. (WIFR) -- A Freeport School District spokesman confirms that a teacher was removed from Carl Sandburg Middle School and an investigation launched into that teacher's "discipline techniques."

23 News obtained a copy of a letter, written by Superintendent Anna Alvarado, sent to parents of Carl Sandburg students.

The letter says two sixth-grade students reported concerns over how they were disciplined by one of the teachers at the school.

That teacher was removed from the building until a thorough and expedited investigation is complete, according to the school district.

The letter also says the district is cooperating with the families involved and local police.
