SwedishAmerican welcomes baby boom for annual holiday tradition

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- While SwedishAmerican Hospital had a slight baby boom over the past week, it timed out perfectly with an annual holiday tradition.

Several newborns were dressed in Christmas stockings as they were being treated in the hospital's special care nursery unit.

The babies in the unit were born around the Thanksgiving holiday last week. Several parents also took part in the celebration with their new babies.

"It's such a privilege to us to be able to take care of their babies," said Salena Kinser, operation supervisor for the special care nursery. "To be able to give back a little bit and to be able to share this experience with them is very rewarding."

The special care unit hopes to continue this tradiition each year, in addition to celebrations for other major holidays.
