ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- SwedishAmerican celebrates the opening of its new Riverwest Clinic by giving young children a closer look of the facility.
Doctors greeted students from Barbour Elementary School in Spanish before showing them around the clinic. Most of the staff at the clinic is bilingual.
Doctors want students and the community to know they can feel comfortable going to a doctor without needing an interpreter.
"They feel comfortable about being able to approach their physician in their primary language also taking that home to the parents to let mom and dad know there's Spanish speaking there," said Angelica Aranda SwedishAmerican Riverwest Clinic manager. "You don't need to use your own family members to interpret because we will be able to do that for them at this clinic."
The clinic hosts an open house this Saturday from 1-3 p.m. The new facility, located at 815 Marchesano Dr., will open doors Monday.
