ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - The folks at SwedishAmerican Hospital had a very special tree lighter to kick off it's annual Christmas event Tuesday.
Eleven-year-old Brock Scarpetta was nominated to plug in the lights at the annual tree lighting ceremony at the Heart Hospital. You may recall Brock was diagnosed three years ago with a rare disease of the nervous system called Batten's Disease. But Brad and his parents recently learned he will be fully funded by a pharmaceutical company to be enrolled in a very promising treatment program. Brock was one of many highlights among the tree lights. The Rockford East High School Choir performed, and Santa Claus was on hand to spread some holiday cheer.
