Suspect identified from Mobil gas station robbery in Rockford

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Updated: Feb. 14, 2019, 11:55 p.m.

A Loves Park man is wanted for robbery at a Rockford Mobil earlier this month.

The suspect, Shane Reiniche, 29, is at large. He is accused of stealing money and threatening an employee, but police say a weapon was not used during the robbery.

Reiniche was identified after an investigation from the Violent Crimes Unit. He is considered innocent unless proven guilty by the court of law.

The Rockford Police Department is looking for a man accused of stealing money at a Rockford gas station over the weekend.

Police say a suspect placed items on a counter for purchase at the Mobil at 2624 Stowmarket Avenue. He then walked behind the counter and demanded money from an employee.

The suspect did not show a weapon and no one was hurt, but police say the suspect left with an undisclosed amount of cash. Officers arrived to the gas station around 2:20 a.m. on Sunday.

The suspect was described as white, approximately 26 years old, around six feet tall and 185 pounds with auburn-colored facial hair. A few images of the suspect from security camera footage have been released.
