UPDATE: Man arrested for high-speed chase in Beloit sentenced to 4 years, 9 months in prison

ROCK COUNTY, Wis. (WIFR) -- Robert Carothers in sentenced to 4 years and 9 months in prison after leading police on a high-speed chase and resisting arrest late last year.

23-year old Robert Carothers was speeding in Beloit last year when police tried to pull him over. He then led them on a chase, achieving speeds over 100mph. After using stop sticks to end the chase, Carothers presented a knife and refused to put it down, resulting in him being pepper sprayed and tased.


ROCK COUNTY (WIFR) -- A man is pepper sprayed and tased after Rock County Sheriff's deputies say he led them on a police chase.

It happened around 11pm Saturday when deputies tried pulling the suspect over for erratic driving on Hwy 51 near Inman Pkwy in the Town of Beloit.

Deputies say the chase reached speeds of 100mph. They used stop sticks to end the chase.

They say the suspect had a knife, and refused to drop it, so he was pepper sprayed and tased before being arrested.

The suspect was identified as Robert Carothers, 23. He faces several charges including OWI and fleeing.
