BELVIDERE, Ill. (WIFR) -- Summerfield Zoo celebrates the birth of a ring-tailed lemur.
You can now see the ring-tailed lemur baby and the lemur troop at the zoo’s lemur habitat.
The lemur weighed roughly 5-6 ounces at birth. It will spend its first few weeks clinging to its mother, learning how to jump and climb.
“Ring-Tailed Lemurs are on the endangered species list and continue to have a decreasing wild population," says Rick Anderson, director at Summerfield Zoo. "We are thrilled to announce this birth and invite the public to come learn about this very special species.”
