Student athletes excited for college prep combine in Rockford

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- A special opportunity is coming for student athletes in Rockford.

“Empowering Athletes for Life” is the first-ever college combine and expo coming to Rockford for student athletes. The event will be held at the UW Health Sports Factory, 305 S. Madison Street in Rockford, April 12-13.

Student athletes will have the opportunity to meet more than 30 college coaches and learn the best ways to earn college scholarships.

Participants can also attend workshops to learn more about health and financing tips for student athletes.

"I'm really looking forward to getting to know all the colleges," said Madisen Perry, junior at Auburn High School. "I havent looked into it much, so I can learn more about the college. Not just the athletic side of things, but also the academic and finances. That's really important to me ."

The Expo is open to incoming freshmen and all high school student athletes in the northern Illinois region.
