Street closures for St. Patrick's Day Parade in Rockford

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- A sea of green will take over downtown Rockford on Saturday for the 38th annual St. Patrick's Day parade.

The city of Rockford reminds residents and travelers that some roads will be closed during the parade.

The parade begins at 3 p.m. at 7th Street and 4th Avenue. The route continues north to State Street, proceeds west to Madison Street and ends at Prairie Street Brewhouse at 200 Prairie Street.

All roads in the parade route will close one hour prior to the parade. Drivers will not be able to cross these roads during the parade.

Police will allow traffic to cross through 2nd, 3rd, 6th and 7th Streets periodically, but drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes.

City leaders say to plan a few extra minutes for driving to the Rockford IceHogs game on Saturday, which begins a 6 p.m.
