Stone Creek students donate to VetsRoll

ROSCOE,Ill. (WIFR) - Second and third graders at Stone Creek Elementary School dressed-up in theme to raise money for VetsRoll.

"They wore wacky Wednesday miss-matched clothes and did their hair in different colors, they did hat day," said Crystal Ellis, Stone Creek Elementary School.

In exchange for dressing up, students donate a dollar to VetsRoll.

"Most families went above and beyond because it went to such a good cause," Ellis said.

The students raised $2,475.

"It warms my heart," said Gayle Haab, VetsRoll.

Haab volunteers with VetsRoll and says the money allows four veterans to attend VetsRoll's Washington D.C. trip.

"The veterans that can go for absolutely zero cost. Everything is paid for through VetsRoll and all these generous donations that we have," Haab said.

"My grandfather is a WWII Veteran and Korean War Vet and he went on the very first trip for VetsRoll and he had such an amazing trip and time and I want to make sure that continues for other people," Ellis said.

Stone Creek Elementary School plans on doing another event next year to raise money for VetsRoll.
