UPDATE: Man charged after assistant state's attorney attacked

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - Updated: Oct. 19, 2018, 3:45 p.m.

Kenneth Farr Jr., faces several charges after being accused of attacking an assistant state's attorney in a courtroom.

Farr Jr. has been charged with aggravated battery to a government employee, aggravated battery in a public place, aggravated battery causing great bodily harm and intimidation.

Farr Jr. was taken to Winnebago County Jail. His next court appearance is set for Tuesday, Nov. 20 at 9 a.m.

A man appearing in court on felony charges is accused of attacking one of his prosecuting attorneys in the Winnebago County Criminal Justice Center.

The assistant state's attorney was taken to a local hospital but is expected to be OK.

Kenneth Farr Jr., 39, was subdued by bailiffs until officers arrived. The name of the attorney has not yet been released.

Additional charges against Farr are expected.
