Stateline students treated to free performance of 'The Nutcracker'

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- The Rockford Dance Company and Rockford Symphony Orchestra are helping stateline students get into the holiday spirit by performing "The Nutcracker."

More than 4,000 students gathered at to the Coronado Performing Arts Center to see a free and condensed version of "The Nutcracker."

Organizers say, for many students, this might be the first time they see a show performed with a live orchestra.

"To hear music being play my live instruments in the orchestra pit and seeing live dancers on stage together in this beautiful facility for some will be a life changing experience," says Julie Thomas, RSO executive director."
