Starlight Theatre's anonymous donors are helping save their sound

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Starlight Theatre's sound system is over 15 years old and theatre administrators say it is failing.

In an effort to fix that, the theatre created the "Save Our Sound Campaign."

Since 2018, they have raised $180,000, however, they still need $40,000 to reach their goal.

But change is eminent.

Wednesday, anonymous donors stated if the theatre could raise $20,000 dollars, they would match it.

"I'm dumbfounded," says Creative Director Chris Brady. "It is amazing that people care that much."

He says this will enhance viewer's experience by a landslide.

"What we do our here is we tell stories, and we try to be truthful about telling stories," says Brady. "Without understanding the words, you're not able to tell stories. Being able to make sure the audience doesn't have to concentrate so hard on [trying to hear] is going to amplify what we do here immensely."
