ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- More than 300 people are kicking off the holiday season with the whole family by coming out to watch the St. Mark Lutheran Church of Rockford's free holiday concert called Christmas at St. Mark.
The concert features the St. Mark Voices Choir, the St. Mark Ringers, and the St. Mark Drama Ensemble.
These groups present "A Recipe for a Christmas Concert," which is a skit about making Figgie pudding.
The music director says he found that the ingredients of Figgie pudding were able to be compared to some of the events of the Christmas and there was a way to correlate them with music.
"To emphasize our faith and the coming Messiah and think about Christmas coming as well, it's also great for bringing people together and it's one of my favorite things about this is that we not only have a lot of people in the choir and in the bell choir, but there are many instrumentalist that aren't part of a group and we can bring them into the concert as well," says St. Mark Lutheran Church Music Director Bob Rub.
The group was joined by several additional St. Mark musicians to offer an exciting blend of unique music, along with some traditional favorites.
