Six people displaced after duplex fire in Janesville

Janesville, Wisc. (WMTV) Emergency crews were called to the 200 block of Academy Street around 2 a.m. on Wednesday for a fire at a duplex.

According to the Janesville Fire Department, everyone inside the duplex was able to get out safely.

They say the building there is a total loss. According to the Janesville Fire Department, there is about $83,000 worth of property damage.

There were 32 fire fighters on the scene. Due to the extremely cold temperatures, multiple additional units, along with Janesville Transit, were called to the scene to help with the response.

Six people are now without a place to live. They are getting help from the Red Cross.
