GURNEE, Ill. (WIFR) -- Rollercoaster riders, rejoice.

Six Flags Great America will open on Friday, April 19 for its 44th season.

The "Thrill Capital of the Midwest" opens with several new attractions this season. Maxx Force, the triple, record-breaking air launch rollercoaster, will debut later this spring.

Since Rockford's Magic Waters Water Park is now operated by Six Flags, you can also use a Magic Waters season pass to get into Six Flags Great America as well.

"Six Flags is synonymous with big fun, big thrills and innovation at the highest level,” said Park President Hank Salemi. “The 2019 season promises to be our best ever... We are excited to welcome new guests, along with our Members and Season Pass Holders as they create thrilling memories all year long with family and friends.”

Six Flags Great America will be open on weekends and select days until mid-May. The venue plans to open daily by May 21.
