ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Dozens of women gathered at the Central Christian Church in Rockford to put their needle and thread to work for a good cause.
The group is currently working on several sewing projects for groups like Rock House Kids, Remedies, and Mother House Crisis Center. The group creates several quilts, pillowcases and even dresses for girls in Africa. Organizers say they are in need of more members to keep up with the growing demand as they celebrate their 8th year of ministry.
“In order to meet all our needs, the needs out there are just so great. We are currently working with four other organizations in town that need our services and we just can't keep up with the need,” said Marge Wiedenhoefer, a member of the sewing ministry at the Central Christian Church.
The kits and fabric for each project are available at no charge. All skill levels are welcome to join the group which meets once per month.
