Schnucks, customers donate nearly $200K to Hurricane Michael relief fund

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Schnucks Markets, Inc. and its customers have stepped up to donate $185,000 to the American Red Cross' hurricane Michael Disaster Relief Fund.

Customers donated more than $170,000 during last week's 'Round up at the Register' campaign. Schnucks added nearly $15,000 to the total with a corporate donation.

Schnucks opened a weekly campaign to help hurricane victims for the second straight month. The last campaign​ raised $165,000 for Hurricane Florence victims in September.

The American Red Cross provides shelter, food and support to victims of disasters. The organization has served more than 800,000 meals and snacks to hurricane victims through donations.

Schnuck Markets, Inc. ​operates 99 stores in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Iowa, and employs more than 13,000 teammates.
