ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Only one week away from Christmas day, Santa and Mrs. Claus visited the Rock River Valley Blood Donation Center on Tuesday afternoon.
The two have been donating blood for more than 12 years. They understand that blood donations are typically down during the holidays.
Both say right now is a critical time to give back for people in need of the blood donations over the holidays.
"It's the oppounity to give back life because the blood can be used so many times and the one donation can be used can be used to help more than one person," Santa said.
Rock River Valley says one donation could help save up to three lives. It takes less than an hour to donate blood.
You can visit the Rock River Valley Blood Center at 419 N. 6th Street to donate blood. The facility is open from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Monday-Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday and 7-11 a.m. on Saturday.
