Rockford, Ill (WIFR) -- After opening up as a booth at the Rockford City Market in 2013, Ronit's kitchen hosted its grand opening inside the indoor city market.
Owner Ronit Golan grew up in Skokie, IL and then moved to Israel to pursue a degree in physical therapy. While there she met her husband, had two children and discovered her love of cooking. She collected recipes from her mother and worked in a communal kitchen, helping her develop her own style and flavor. Her family moved to Rockford in 1996 and that's when she got the idea to open a Mediterranean restaurant one day.
"City Market was my once a week fun day where I did something else that I love,” said Golan, “and when this opportunity came to be I thought , 'Oh this is perfect 30 years of physical therapy, time to do my other love.'"
